I'm probably going to buy some aftermarket rims with tires. I hate the runflats on my '99 HT. If I don't use the pressure senders, what will happen? Will a warning light show up on the dash?
I hate to buy wheels/tires, and have to dismount them and the OE ones to just install the monitors.
If you're dropping that kind of money on new wheels and tires, why not spend the couple hundred more and buy a set of sensors too? This is what I did, and I have kept my OE wheels/sensors/tires all intact and ready to use if the need would arise.
The sensors are a very common item to see for sale on the parts forum here...you could probably find a deal on a set of 4. If you decide to do this, there are 2 style sensors for C5's...you need the early style sensor which were used on 1997-2000 cars. 2001 and newer sensors will NOT work on your car.
If you choose not to use sensors, you will get a "service tire mon. sys." error message on your DIC everytime you start the car. You can press the reset button to clear it.
