Default what isa normal temp for a 98m C5

OK I just had my Dexcool changed and I wanted to know what is a normal temp for a car with 4k miles on it to run at? (Or any C5 for that matter)
We also added the watter wetter and it got up to temp at the shop and the fans turned on OK.

On the way home it ran about 194 to 198 and it was 79 deg out. Open road for the most part. some stopping but not much.

The mechanic did not think we needed to repalce the thermastat but I am guessing I should have insisted on it. Would one of them go bad with so few miles on it? Or am I just being paranoid about the car?

My 2002 AV runs about 210 on a daily basis.

Those temps sound in-range to me.

I changed my dexcool at 5 years and what came out looked exactly like what went in. No temp difference was noticed either.

Water-wetter scares me. What's in that stuff anyway?

I think the only problems with Dexcool have been from contamination from additives. I hope the Dexcool does not consider the water-wetter as a 'contamination'.

Normal operating temp for a C5 is 200 - 210 according to Chevrolet. My 2000 runs at 183 with 178 thermostat and fan controller.

You have a 1998 with only 4k on the clock? Get out there and put some milage on that puppy. My 98 coupe has 78,000 miles on it. I just changed the Dexcool last month. I run at about 193 degrees on the open road, as soon as I hit traffic it jumps to 210 degrees. I believe you are better off driving a car than letting it sit for long periods of time. Seals and gaskets will end up drying up and leaking, caliper pistons will end up frozen from not being used. so forth and so on. Hey, that's just me

Hey Jim.......That's the first time I seen a Pace Car with Z06 style wheels. Looks really nice. Good choice.

I have 75k on my baby. I run between 193-198 and that's with 92 degree
temps, the ac/fans on and the stock thermostat.

When cooler, 50-80, I tend to run a bit cooler at 190 or so. You temps sound
very normal.
