I have seen it done here in NY there is some modification that needs to be done in, and under the car and the computer needs to be reprogrammed from what I remember.
There are a few prople on the forum that have done this, It's fairly straight forward, you need a different torque tube along with the tranny, then of course a flexplate will replace your flywheel, you'll need to replace the wire harness along the torque tube and then you'll have to strip the clutch pedal assy out.
I'm sure if you make a post in the "parts for sale" area you might find someone with an auto thats wants to convert to a manual and you can probably just swap your parts at the same time. :yesnod:
Get ahold of "buckmaster" he is getting ready to swap a auto for a stick. You guys might be able to work something out> Do a search under my screen name I did a write up on this a little while ago. It is not the hard just time consuming. Feel free to email me with questions. brrymnvette@msn.com
Good luck, Andy
Yep, I'm doing the A4 to MN6 swap real soon. I will hopefully getting some of the parts soon but still need other parts. Maybe we can talk :D What year is your car? Do you have Active Handling? Mileage? Etc???
here's the deal. I kinda wanted a superfast street car, so I bought my ZR1. Now I love my zr1 and from a roll I wouldn't shy away from anybody (94 mph in the 1/8) but from a standing start there is this thing called traction or better stated, lack off. Now I know there are things that I can do to increase traction, but most will hurt handling and break parts. So I decided to get an auto for some serious fun at the dragstrip. My chioce was a 89 Turbo Trans Am. Now this car uns good (13.89 at 104 first time out) but I kinda messed up and got a little too nice of a car...33K miles and one of only five pilot cars ever made and the very first one produced... to cut up for a toy. I will need to put in subframe connectors and at least a six point bar. It's kinda of sucky that every penny I put into the car will lower the value that much more. So I decided to put the TTA up for sale (along with my bike) and get a C5. I wanted a frc but six speed only. this is why I wanted to see How hard it is to swap a M6 for a A4. This way I could get the FRC or a cheap targa if the price was right. I was kinda looking at the one on ebay right now that had been modified for autocross, what does everbody think?

Get a stock A4 Coupe and modify it specifically for the strip. You'll have to un-mod an autocross car for strip-only use.
