Default What New Mod Now for Quick Power/topend?

I have one of the faster though not fastest "true" street cars in my town. I'm in a grudge match with a local mild bolt on 98 Viper GTS (Nitto Drags, smooth tubes, K&N dual cone intake). :boxing

We have a crapy makeshift legal track for now, however I won the first race by 2 cars, and lost today only a nose, few feet at most. So score 1-1 right now :smash: I messed up the luanch (too much wheel spin on my 315BFG Drs). He ditched all his extra wheight and passanger this time also :D

Anyone, I just need a little more top end, and a more careful launch. What mods that you can put on in a day or so are left for me to do however? See my sig for what I have now. I was thining about ordering a ported TB, though I heard they don't give much power. Is it worth anything on a H/C car? I'd like anything under $500 or maybe $1000, and a quick install.

Next Friday may be my chance again. Gotta Rep for Chevy ! :chevy

Meziere waterpump from thunder racing. Takes about 2 hours to install, should give you 5-8rwhp, costs right at $500.

Why not just practice a bit? If you took him by 2 cars the first time, you obviously have enough power! Besides, adding power now would almost be like cheating, especially since you didn't look to do that after your first romp! :steering: :auto: :seeya

a 6-speed would have helped u a lot better in that area. A4's dont mph as good. vipers will always shine up top with that school bus engine. i dont think that he will ever beat u as long as u have a good launch

So will a new TB help at all? I'm just looking for a little competitive edge, and with a better launch, I should this one in the bag this coming weekend :D Like to put on a show for the locals, they love to see these two cars run.

His Viper will always give you a hard time upstairs. You need to improve your launch if you want to beat him, get a set of ET Streets for a stronger more consistent launch. If you have the extra cash swap your 3500 for a 4000-4200 stall especially if you have the soft hitting SY3500. I did just that and it made a big difference in the performance of my car. I also swapped my Blackwing for the Vararam, this swap helped my car pull stronger on top end.

Isn't N2O a "bplt-on?" I'm sure one of your local shops has one laying around and you could do it in the next few nights.

Actually they have something called bottle in a bag, its around $450 plus install(only takes about 1-1.5) and you can take it in and out. But as far as the ported TB goes, i wouldn't waste my money, i bought one and was not impressed and a friend of mine bought a 80mm one and it did NOTHING for his car in the 1/4.

Judging by your sig i can't think of anything simple/inexpensive for you, sorry :chevy

Bottle in a bag? I never heard of this. I don't think the electric water pump will do mush either. Wish their were more weight reduction mods :D

Guess I'll have to take out my 40Lbs stealth box like sub, a seat, 1/4 tank of racefuel instead of 1/2 tank gas, go on a diet, and hmmm, what else :jester

If I can get a hold of some VHT in time, that will help also! Come on guys, its for Team Corvette :D

I don't see and underdrive pulley in your sig. It'll be a bit of a pain to install now, but that would definitely give you some extra power.

Do you have the rev limiter raised so you can use the extra H/C power?

UPGRADE your CONVERTER to a Yank SUPERTHRUSTER 3500 or Prothruster 4000 (like i run) and throw in 3.73s or better yet 3.90 gears. My PRthruster 4000 with 3.73s is 100% streetable and with these upgrade you will LAUNCH MUCH harder and will pick up about 3 mph in your ets knock down your ets by about .2 or .3!  :D

To offset extra expense you can sell your sy 3500 and 3.42s all day long!
