Vortech Supercharger installed by MTI
My car (O3 C5 Coupe) has been down for three weeks for a vortech blower install/reinstall. Blower was bad right out of the box. It had a bad oil leak due to a defective seal. Problem was not discovered until I got the car home and found oil on garage floor. One week later MTI removed blower and shipped it back to Vortech under warranty. Vortech has said they will not replace it but will put new seals and bearings in it. It was shipped overnight to Vortech on 9-15-03. They received it 9-16-03 and as of 9-19-03 it had finally made it's way to a tech's bench. I will end up with a refurbished blower at the cost of a new one. What a deal!!!! I have no idea when I will get the car back from MTI but will post a follow-up. Vortech blower gave me the hp I wanted, but I thought the car would be in my garage and not MTI's.

I know it'd be nice to not have a "rebuilt" unit but putting new seals in shouldn't affect future performance or longevity as long as it was the seal itself or initial improper installation. If the blower is bad, it should show itself as faulty again quickly (hopefully) and they'll replace it.
Sux when you pay and wait only to end up with a big wet spot in the garage. Best of luck - MTI should get you fixed up good.

sorry they should just send you a new one of the shelf a.s.a.p. if you ask me. then again if they do that they will just sell the one they fixed for you to someone else as if it were new anyway. customer service in this country has gone to poopie. it is so hard nowadays to find people/companies that make the paying customer the first priority.

My ATI spit-up oil (I think I overfilled it after the 500 mile break-in oil change..) and they put in new seals etc. when I sent it back. I have had no problems since. I am sure they will inspect it to make sure nothing is damaged. It will be good as new. Vortech is a top-notch operation.

All is well in my world. I get the car back Thursday (10.2.03) with rebuilt s/c, MTI ram-air induction, and 3.42 gear. Friday night you can find me at HRP. [IMG][/IMG] :party:

Spring, I know how you feel, I purchased a brand new C5 Corvette, and when the piston rings were found to be bad, they Rebuilt the engine instead of giving me a New one!
