Default Wiring for the challenge

Guys need your help on this. First I got my cam installed :D  . While putting back the car together. I plugged the electrical connector that works the Active Handling for the car. Well it was a tight leash and some of my wires came out :smash: Take a look at a pic I borrowed from JMX, thanks brother, it is circled in red. Can anyone give me any info on this on the wiring?

Does anyone know or have the wiring diagram to this. Everything is color coded and has numbers on the connector. I don't know what color goes with what number. Anyone can help on this before I go and spend $100 for manuals.

Thanks guys.

You have a 2000, correct? It's important to make sure the correct year is spec'd as far as wiring. My books are 2002 so I don't think they'll help but maybe someone with a set of 2000 manuals will see this.

I'll look and see if I can find the diagram of the connector end you need. Sorry for the trouble! I'll add a note to make sure the wiring harness isnt under any strain.

JMX thanks for your help, your tutorial was awesome. My mechanic enjoyed it and was easy to follow.

He told me when you try to plug there is not much room to stretch it, he had to release the clip from the fan to get it over, but by then it was to late, the wires pulled out. A simple and honest mistake that can be made by anyone.

2KVetteMan,
I can hook you up but need a better description of the location and what it's attached to. When I do a search on "Active Handling" nothing comes up inside the manual. I can get you the connector views, color coding etc but need to know some more info.

later,

I wish I had a better name. All I could think of is its a electric connector for the Active handling system. Its right on the power steering.

Wish I knew more about the part itself.

Thanks so much for the help, hope this will help.

Well let me tell you the adventure this has been. First thanks JMX that is exactly the wiring diagram with color coded and numbered correctly as I checked  .

The bad news, no one in the this world has the connector that I need to rewire this thing back.

Been to
Fry's
Radio Shack
3 mom and pop auto parts store
Napa
AutoZone
Chevy dealer
Gm Dealer

Going to try another small independent auto parts store that I was told they will order the connector for me that connects to the wires. I need to load up my digital software so I can take a pic and you all can see what I am talking about. Keep everyone posted on my adventures.

Okay I need some help here. I been to about 12 shops and no body has this damn terminal connector that I need. If you look at the pics I have

This is one of the pics that I have it shows the female connector. I lost one so I need to get one at least, I will buy by the dozen if someone can point out the part number. Been to two different Gm dealers and no dice.

Does anyone have or know how to get the description of the terminal connector that I need, my damn digital camera died and won't be able to post till tomorrow morning the actual pic.

Gene "Karshop" where are you brother!!! :smash:

Being that this connector is part of an assembly (the harness), I'm sure the only way GM would sell it is as a harness and not just the connector, you might try Kent-Moore and see if they have the GM tool for repairing the connectors, I think I have a number at home and I'll look for you later.
Good Luck

I can probably sort you out.

Shoot me an email at jmx@austin.rr.com and I'll do some research tonight. I can also probably get you a source for the terminals, although you're going to have to buy at least 100 of them. I also have the special crimper ($100) but you can use needle nose pliars and just hand crimp them yourself.

I'm at work right now so I dont have time to read up on which connectors are being used there. I may not be able to find out anything for that connector, but its worth a shot I guess.

Thanks guys for all the help. I have called all the local junkyards around and nobody has any C5's.

Been up to 15 different stores now and they all refer to another and to another until I run into a wall.

I contacted Gene he might be able to help me, but have not heard from him after we exchanged e-mails. Contacted our other forum vendor Vette2Vette and waiting for an e-mail.

I tell you if you lose any of these terminals you are completely screwed. Worst case scenario I would have to buy the whole unit which I don't want to.

JMX I want to do the job right so if I have to use special crimplers I will pay the $100.00. I just need the connectors to get my baby back on the road.

I buy GM terminals (without having to buy the whole connector) all the time so I think you'll be fine. The hard part is just finding the part #. It'll just take some legwork to figure out everything. Hopefully its not a part that somebody has a patent on, or its going to cost a lot of $$$.

As for the crimpers, the pliars will be fine so don't worry about that. You have to manually crimp it, then solder the crimp to help bond the wire to the terminal and it'll be as solid as can be.

Get ahold of karshop and see if he has a busted harness. I had to do this to get my connector ends when I wired my A/H, skip shift, reverse soleniod. Hope this helps, Andy

JMX I wish I knew the part number that is the problem. Nobody knows the part number. I went to the Chevy parts counter, guy went in the back could not find anything and didn't look in the PC after I told him to, he said we won't have that part in the computer. :smash: :cuss

I spoken to Karshop and he has not gotten back to me.
