I posted the other day that there is a secret to removing the demon key. Someone IM'd me asking how to do it. It's hard to explain, so I took a picture to help. See picture below. Clamp on it with the vice grips. You MUST put a rag on the front of the **** to keep from tearing up the ****. Run the screwdriver though the vice grips as shown, and pry up on it using the flat blade of the screwdriver against the rag. This works for me every time with no trouble at all.
BTW, I read this a couple of years ago on the forum, but have no idea who posted it. Feel free to take credit if you posted this a couple of years ago.

Thanks for the very timely post. I have a new Hurst shifter coming in any day now so I'll definitely use your process. Looking at the picture is enough to see why it would make it easier.
