Just got my first of the newly redesigned Darton blocks a couple of weeks ago. I had it honed to 4.125 and installed Diamond custom pistons ( -15cc dish), Callies 4" crank and Lunati rods The short block is finished with the exception of installing and degreeing the cam. It'll be a 229 cam , which in a block this big will be fairly mild .
The heads have 2.100 and 1.60 valves and we'll set the compression at 9.8. High enough to have lots of torque and not have to run huge amounts of boost to make big power up top. We have no intention of trying to make 700 RWHP. 600 torque and 600 RWHP will be a nice package.( It'll probably be hard to keep it that low)
We haven't decided on blower size yet. The customer wants a smooth torque monster. It had a P1SC on it but I think a D1SC is in order. We only intend on making about 5 PSI.
A street sleeper to be sure. The car looks like a stock coupe. Fairly quiet exhaust, chrome Z06 wheels, mild cam. Better think twice if a red coupe pulls along side and wants to play.
I hope to get the engine ready to install by tomorrow evening and install it on Friday.
