I went to E Town last night and met up with Julio, Dave, Brent and the rest of the Cartek crew. The mission to confirm that Brent’s car is truly a stock bottom end 346. We started the night with me going over the car checking for spray, short belt etc… Every thing was in order Brent made his first pass
60 ft 1.55
330 4.55
1/8 7.07
Mph 99.02 A new personal best for Brent (congrats)
1000 9.24
¼ 11.06
Mph 122.88
Brent justified the low ¼ mph to problems with 4 gear his 1/8 mph was enough for me!
Brent tried one more pass but missed third. So we now went to the scale the car weighed in at 3236 with Brent in it. (Normal for a Z06) I then followed behind Julio and Brent to the shop where we were joined by the rest of the Cartek crew and they began removing thee motor. I further inspected the car and motor during the disassembly. The motor was out and on a stand with in an hour (great hustle guys) Hear is what I checked:
Piston Stock with the normal black skirt
Rods Stock with stock bearings & bolts
Crank Stock cast number 12552216 no modifications journals I measured 2.100
Bore Stock I measured 3.89
Stroke Stock I measured 3.60
Top of piston to top of deck @ top dead center = 5 thousands
As a bonus Julio asked me to look over the cam, lifters, rockers etc…
The lifters and rocker arms were all stock.
The lobe on the cam measured 1.808 x 1.4650 giving him a 583 lift.
Great Job guys!!!
You have a super combination!!
I would also like to thank Julio hospitality and Dinner it was a fun night.
And just to keep things fun Mike you BETTER UP THE SPRAY because I am coming for you. See you guys on the 11th.
Bring it on Paul! And thanks for validating my tuner as having the quickest/fastest stock bottom end C5's in the country,I'm sure the Vette Doctors really appreciate you validating their competitors package for the whole forum to see   You better watch out,the next prescription they give you might be poison   :D
I was there for the tear down as well and it was amazing to see those guys (Roy, Rich, Dave and Julio) in action, quickly yet carefully removing the motor. Great job guys and great driving Brent.
I wonder just how accurate the scales at Englishtown really are because that 3236 sounds a little light actually considering a stock Z06 (without driver) weighs in the 3090-3120 range. And even though the CCW wheels/tires are lighter, that mild steel (not chromolly) roll bar does add weight.
Does Brent really only weigh 100 pounds?! :D
so this was a cam/heads car only???
Yes, bolt ons with heads and cam on a stock bottom end. :yesnod:
Car has run a best of 10.86@126+ :steering:
MAJOR SPRAY.. i got to say that your a real stand up guy last night was a late night i didnt get home till 230 am
i cant wait to get the car back with the rev2 updates
We are shooting for another 25-35 rwhp with a slightly larger cam and the new port design thats flowing another 35 cfm's !!!!! julio's the man with these heads!!!
im going for the N/A stock bottom end record which is 10.80 @127 held by another cartek guy c5-pig
so if all goes well and my tranny gets rebuilt it should be fun!!!
here is a link to the 11.0 pass last night at e-town
The Vette Doctor Crew has always given credit when due. Brents car and driving is an awsome package. It is a shame that we do not have a 6 speed H/C car running in our group of hard core racers to line up with him. Like you we have all decided to go with strokers. It must be that sickness we suffer from the need for speed. I don't know why but there has been a much bigger demand for S/C and strokers this season. See ya soon :boxing
Laying the golden egg I hope, that's the only way he'll make any money. :D
Glad to hear this issue has finally been put to rest. Brent, can't wait to see what type of power you pick up with Rev 3.   Thank you to Major Spray for helping us do this.
