I'm gettin the "Service vehicle soon" message on my DIC and the only code that was current ("C") was B2860 I cannot find anywhere what this code means. Does anyone have any idea? It was in the Seat Control Module (SCM) section. I also have B2857H under SCM which I also do not know what this stands for. I have noticed no performance problems with the seat or otherwise. I have a 1998 Coupe with M6.
Actually I noticed those codes too but those are supposed to be for 2000 and up C5s. I have a '98 and it does not have telescoping column. Something is fishy here. Any ideas?
Normally OBD2 codes are universal. They would be the same for a Civic as they would a Corvette.
Of coarse some cars do not have the same options as others as you noticed. So they just don't use the codes.
Your car may have been wired for a Telescoping wheel but not have it installed. They may be a problem with that wiring.
Or you may have had a telescoping wheel at one time also......but in either case the code should be the same in every car no matter the year or manufacturer in most cases. As long as it is OBD2....
Bought the car used in 2001. Checked the warranty history when I bought it and nothing was ever done with steering system. I don't think telescoping steering was even an option in 1998. Nonetheless, I guess the wiring could still be there. Perhaps this is not what is throwing the "Service vehicle soon" message on the DIC.
