Transmission / Differential Leakage
With regard to your transmission and/or differential leak, I recently replaced the seals on my transmission and differential and should be able to provide you with a little information.
There are several seals you need to look at to properly determine what's leaking... The point where the transmission and differential bolt together, there is an o-ring seal at the split line. The left and right axle seals, as well as, the left and right diffential o-ring case seals. The left and right axle seals and the right differential o-ring case seal case can be replaced with the differential in place. However, if the transmission to differential split line o-ring and/or left differential o-ring case seals are leaking, it would be necessary to remove the rear cradle and split the transmission and differential to facilitate the necessary repairs.
Jeff, I would strongly recomend that you take your vehicle to the nearest Chevrolet house and let them accomplish the repairs required. It took about 4 1/2 hours to remove the rear craddle, reseal the transmission and differential, service and re-install the craddle. I may also suggest that once you do so, to have your alignment checked... Hope this helps.
