C-5 Headlights (High & Low Beams Together)(
The lighting on my C-5 is awful. Just changed the bulbs and still not much better. I saw a thread recently talking about having the high & low beams both on at once, but a search didn't turn it up. Anyone have any information on how to do this?

If you are looking to make them as bright as possible. Disconnect the headlights from the factory system. You will need a relay but I would use two relays myself, one for drivers side and one for passenger side. Anyways, determine which wire is low beam and which is high beam on both sides. There is a molex connector below the headlight on both sides so it should be very easy. You will have to cut the wires and extend them to go to the relay. I would cut them on the headlight side of the harness because it would be easier to put it back to stock if you wanted to.
Now take the low beam wire from the car side and attach to number 85 on the relay.
Take the low beam and high beam wires from the headlight side attach them together and attach to number 30 on the relay.
Make sure to insulate the high beam wire coming from the car.
Connect number 87 on the relay directly to the battery positive post and I would use a 10ga wire for this and fuse it (have to determine the current draw from your new bulbs for the fuse size). There is a nice positive post on the side of the fuse box that you can connect to also.
Now ground number 86 on the relay and turn your headlights on.
Repeat for passenger side.
I have done this many times in the past on a few different cars and trucks but never on a vette. This setup will give you the most you can get out of those headlights.

About 2 years ago I got a "WR9005/6A Harness for 9005/6 Bulbs" from
Competition Limited, 2243 Sosna Drive, Pinckney, MI 48169, Phone 734 464 1458, Fax 734 878 5477.
This Harness has all the connectors, relays, and wiring that hooks into the exsisting connectors and allows both the highs and the lows to be on together.
Lots more light at night, and all you have to do is run a positive wire to the relays, which gives you direct battery power to bothe the highs and the lows.
This eniter package was $59.95 delivered in January 2001. It's still on the car today and it works great. You can even use 100 watt bulbs if you want. :D

Re: C-5 Headlights (Jim 47)
a plug and play kit would be very nice.
What kind of HID troubles are you having? I have aftermarket HID in the vette and my 01 Ford F350 and have been trouble free.

Re: C-5 Headlights (EatRice)
Not really trouble, the lights just don't seem to do the job. Thought it would be much better if the high & low beams both came on together on bright.

What kind of current problems will come up with the extra load if
both hi/lo were on at the same time?
Also, I have noticed with some cars that if you position the hi/lo switch
midway, that both lights will be on. Of course there's no detent on the
switch pod to hold it there but it is a good way to see if that gives
enough light.

It is very simple
The easest way to turn on hi and lo beams together when hi beam is on is to connect two wires on multifunctional switch.
You need to connect thick white (middle one) and thick tan wires together.
If you loose exterior light during connecting wires - check fuse #6 at passanger feet fuse block.
Here is the diagram.
it fom '99 but it fit my 04 c5. connect tan and white wires to make lo beam works too, when hi beam is on.
