Default HELP! racetronix install

Ok, a bit confused and distraught here. I have a race I was planning on attending tonight. So yesterday I tried installing the Walbro 340 I purchased. No go, can't figure it, can get the old pump out of the cylinder. So, I called up a vendor, and had them overnight the racetronix kit, which is supposed to be "plug and play" ... WTF, I now am at the exact place I was before, except I have this huge wiringharness ALSO to install, with NO instructions. I need some help bad.

So a search in the FI forum. There is a thre4ad in there from when I and some others did this installation. I have info at home but can't get to it right now.

What you have to do is use a large screwdriver and pop the retainer plate in the pump capsule sideways so that you can remove it and get the pump out.

The Racetronics wiring harness plugs into the stock harness and then the other connector on the harness plugs into the pump capsule. The red wire runs up and connects to the alternator output terminal. This setup supplies full voltage to the pump at all times.

I hope that this helps...

So is the Racetronix pump a direct bolton and/or plug n' play or does it require any modification or fabrication?

It is a direct bolt in with no fabrication required. It takes a little bit of tinkering to get the pump out of the pump capsule bit it really isn't a big deal.

Great. I'm finally figuring this out. Thanks for all your guys help. But I have a few more questions.

Still unclear on this red wire.... it has a fuse with it, and some sorta conector on the end. I can't figure out what that goes too. Also, in a little bag came some connector and parts of connectors. Dunno what that does. And finnaly, it also came with this clear tube thats a foot or two long...what on earth does that go to?

Thanks again!

Not sure if your done with the install bigSS but these are some pretty detailed instructions. The Racetronix reps mentioned that the kit will soon come with instructions but I know it doesn't do those of us purchasing it now any good.

The red wire is a jumper used to activate the fuel pump to drain the tank. The clear hose is to put on the pump output line for draining the tank as well.

What they want you to do is to put in the wiring harness. Then drain the tank using the red wire (plugs right into the Racetronics harness) and hose.

Got it all figured out! Works great!

With the help of those links, and Louis @ LGM had it installed no prob. Yeah, you don't have to break the plastic piece inside the fuel pump canister, just take a larger screw driver and push! Also, routing the wiring harness above the exhaust (where the torque tube is) proved to be difficult!

All in all, once you know what to do, its quite easy! I'd say I could do another one in 2 hours.
