Just ordered a set of CCW's new 505A's. Awesome! These wheels come un-clearcoated. Are polished wheels a bear to keep clean. I don't mind maintenance to a degree. But, are they a bear? Or, are polished wheels reasonable to keep looking nice?
What's reasonable? I'll wait for the feedback, then decide.
I don't know which ones you ordered I also will be gettign a set for road race events but with a black center. I drove up to John's shop last week and the wheels that I saw were poished but looked amazingly like chrome!!! I kept looking over at the wheels and wondering if they were chrome.
The one thinig I noticed on John's wheels is that everything is smooth. No bolts, nicks or cranny's to worry about cleaning. I don't see how anyone can have a problem cleaning these wheels. And his 19" wheel is absolutely beautiful and that has got to be the easiest wheel in the world to clean.
As far as cleaning non-clearcoat polished wheels, you'll want some good Billet Polish to do it. I use Mothers Billet Polish on my 547R's and its absolutely amazing. But there are other Billet polishes out there also.
IMO, I absolutely would not use mag wheel polish. And stay away from chrome polish and a product called "NEVER DULL". I tried that on a test area and it almost ruined that portion of the wheel. The billet polish with some elbow grease brought it back.
They are the same wheels I have. Been on my car for about two months now and have no problem keeping them clean. I just wash the wheels when I wash the car. And they still look as bright as the day I put them on. I haven't used a polish on them yet. My extra work is that I wipe them down after I wash them. I didn't do that before.
Is a 305/30 the widest tire you can get for a 19" wheel that will fit our cars? I thought I heard someone was making a 315/30 now. Those wheels look great. I like the split spoke style as well.

Johns wheels are awesome and top quality! :blueangel: Polishing an uncoated aluminum wheel is something you have to do with all brands. Johns is no different.
Sweet wheels!!! Worth the extra $600 (over mine)!! Bought mine this spring. Paste called "Maas", sold at Home Depot works really well. John suggested the Mother's polish that comes as a cotton wad in a can when I asked him. The nice thing about the 18's is the low price at Tire Rack for the rears.....$211 ea., which is good since my Transgo kit has made it to darn easy to light 'em up
If I had the bucks I'd go with the new rims, though. They are HOT :reddevil

c5eddie - I didn't see your rims on ccw's website. Did they just roll out this style? I thought those were HRE's 547 at first glance...
