Default Recommended books on modding?

This is my first post. I have been reading the forum for a few weeks and have read enough to know that I don't know much. I bought a book "Chevy Ls-1 & Ls-6 Performance". Anyone else have any good suggestions? Most people I have talked to have told me that they wish they had known a lot more before they started spending their hard earned $$$'s on junk mods. :steering:

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

I recommend the following two excellent books:

John Lingenfelter On Modifying Small-Block Chevy Engines by John Lingenfelter

and

How to Understand, Service, and Modify Corvette Fuel Injection & Electronic Engine Management by the late Charles O. Probst

I would read the books and then be sure to read the forum as well. Books are not printed fast enough to keep up with all the new stuff that the members are buying trying and using as well as talking about in real time. You are lucky coming into this game at this date. Many members here have spent years getting mods to work correctly. They know what to get and what not to get as well as how it actually works on the car. Listening to them will save you time, money and your sanity. Over the counter books are great and all but they dont tell you things like that...

I hear what you are saying. I am thinking a few good books will get me up to a working knowledge of the basics. Good to hear from another NORCAL guy. We may be dealing with much stricter smog issues then many people on the forum.
Any recommendations for a good tuner in the Sacramento or Norcal area?

I am smart enough to know you can't trust performance claims by the manufactures. If that were true we would all have 700hp with just bolt ons!
