97 C5 had steering colum lock up. I had installed Corvettes Houston
column lock bypass kit.Works great.Problem now on initial start-up
reading on DIC shows pull key wait 10 seconds. COH at first said
BCM was shot. I had and have no codes on vehicle. They said try other key,
Did so that worked for 2 days no codes then it registered only on first
start-up of daily driving. All else is smooth....any suggestions? :seeya
:flag :flag C5 YA !!!!
Well, unfortunatly this is a common thing with all column lock bypasses. Some cars just don't like them. COH does seem to think its a BCM issue, and I'd tend to agree, but it does definitly seem strange huh?
You may just have to live with the code, or invest in a new BCM and hope that fixes the issue.

Not necessarily. I've had my CLB from C5 Solutions for nearly three years, in two different FRCs, and have had zero problems and zero codes. I don't recall seeing anyone who had a C5 Solutions bypass complain about them.
The first "generation" of CLBs from COH generated a few complaints here but I think the "revised" bypass from COH has been doing OK for the most part. Many of the problems associated with the CLBs were related to IMPROPER installation.
The "pull key wait 10 seconds" is not necessarily associated with the CLB either. It could be something as simple as the pellet on the key is dirty and couldn't be read at that moment.
That is odd. I called COH and gave them a rundown of my similiar problem and they told me the BCM was TITZ UP also. Shortly thereafter, I called JMX and ordered his CLB! :D Two days later I'm on the road with no isues or codes. Thanks JMX!
Cajun, by "common" I mean "releativly common". I'd say about 1% of cars have it, and for something so odd, that is relativly common. Unless you've had 100 different C5's, I don't expect you to have had the issue.

Cant believe that the JMX didnot set codes. All the bypasses are made the same way and the C5 solutions is identical to ours.
Ive seen the code Pull key if you start the car with the door open. Did you do anything else ith the JMX install as pull fuses to reset?

Sounds typical of the intermittant failure that plagues a small percent of cars. Some people go weeks between errors, some months, some only days. Other (most!) cars never have the error ever with a bypass installed.
Bottom line, sounds like the bypass is fine, the car just doesn't play well. You're right, at least the column doesn't lock anymore :)
