I have a '98 and I've always ripped the cats off my older muscle cars to let 'em breath better. Is there any draw back to this on this model? Also want to supercharge the car, but not sure if it's safe w/the motor having 75K on it....Thoughts????
IMO, NO. Almost everyone I have seen has gained with removal of the cats but I have seen the dyno sheet of one that didn't gain but I dont think he was fully tuned either. Your best bet are high flow cats, good power, less smell, and beter sound.

IMHO, removing the cats is inapproriate on a C5. The C5 is a beautiful sports car that is comfortable, quiet, and very fast. Why ruin that by making your car obnoxiously loud and smelly. If you want more speed then simply crank up the boost on your supercharger.

Actually with the right exhaust system it is not loud at all. With the Z06 Ti exhaust my car sounds almost identical to my buddies 02' Z06 and he still has his cats. Mine is a lil louder at WOT but at cruising speeds you can barely even tell I have an exhaust system let alone something so free flowing.
I will completely agree with you on the smelly thing. :)
