Topic says it all. I have an '01 with the cold start knock that is characteristic of carbon buildup and I would like to fix it. Will doing the decarb procedure ruin or damage either the pre-cats or the main cats? Thanks
My two cents. I had the nagging pinging and took it into the dealership. The 2001 had the knock sensor TSB work done - still pinged. Deal tried to make me believe this was normal and engineered into the car (see page #x in manual). Last week I bought two cans of Top Engine cleaner and blew out the car. Ping is gone and the temps are in the 40-60's here.
Follow week I went into the dealership to get my diff seals done and I told them that I got rid of the pinging that they could not. The direct quote was "must have decard's with Top Engine cleaner - uh?" "Stuff really works"
Don't ask me why they did not recommend it. :banghead:
