My check engine light came on this weekend traveling(200 miles from home).
The only place open was an AutoZone and I had them read the code with their scan tool (P0441). The clerk said that the problem was fuel related.
Can someone expain this code in detail? BTW the engine seems to be running fine :chevy
Thanks in advance,
Bill
You must have a ’97 or ‘98 as the ’99 and up split EVAP system code P0441 into five different codes. As mentioned a loose or faulty gas cap can trip the code. Also, Mini-Fuse 19 (10amp), which is located in the fuse box next to the battery, could be bad.
If the gas cap and the fuse are both ok then things get a bit complicated as the problem could be in the EVAP vent or purge solenoid valve circuits, EVAP canister vent blocked, kinked or damaged EVAP system lines, or possibly a bad fuel pressure sensor.
