I had to remove my fuel rails to relocate the coil wiring as part of an (aborted) Katech valve cover project, and upon reassembly I now have the number two injector leaking at the connection to the rail. Is there a magic sequence to reassembling these things, or did I just screw up installing the retainer clip?
the injectors have o rings.. you may not have a good seal, or you may have knicked the o-ring on removal.. There really isnt some 'magic' way of putting them back on.. Make sure the o-ring is sitting flush and stick it in the fuel rail. secure it with the clip.
Check the O-ring for any damage....put the injectors into the fuel rail first, then insert them into the manifold....don't do the reverse procedure...its easy to damage an O-ring if you do. If you have a cut in the O-ring.....Pep Boys and most big auto parts stores have them.
Thanks for the source of the O-rings. Suspecting that they might be the problem, I visited my local Chevrolet parts department, where I was informed that the O rings were "not serviced".
I really dislike the whole fuel rail/injector design. Threaded connections would be both more secure and easier to deal with.
You definitely have a torn/leaking o-ring. I tore one when I re-installed mine. I have an extra one if you need it. You MUST lubricate the o-rings with motor oil before you push the injector into the fuel rail or the intake. Don't worry about using too much oil on them. Just wet your fingers real good and rub it around each o-ring. Do as stated above and install all of the injectors in the rails, then push them into the intake one side at a time. They will pop into place. When you are all finished, turn on the ignition which will pressurize the fuel system and check for leaks.
