What does The term STR mean? I am going to put in 3.73's (ASAP) and need to know what I should get. It's a weekend car, non daily driver, Some short highway driving. Maybe a few track runs. :D What should I get???
Stall Torque Ratio
It is the number by which torque is multiplied.
the higher thenumber the harder the car will hit from a dead stop.
Street cars don't want it too high where drag cars with sticky tires want it higher like 2.5 plus.
I have 3.73s with a Cartek/TCS converter, 3800 stall 3.0 STR. Short times are in my sig, it's a little bit loose but not bad at all for me. Edgar described STR pretty well above
Redgar is right on with his explanation of STR. :yesnod:
If you are going to run street tires all the time I wouldnt recommend going with a converter with a STR any higher than 2.0. If you want to strap some sticky tires on once in awhile and hit the track, I would recommend going with something a bit higher. The Super YANK 3500 is what I usually highly recommend for street cars that see a bit of track use on street tires. If you want something more agressive, YANK offers many different converters.
Feel free to drop me an email if you have any more questions or are interested in YANK pricing.
