I recently bought a used throttlebody and it had a small hole drilled in the throttle plate. I assume it has something to do with idle? Anyone know what the advantage might be?
F-body throttle are controled by cable, so the hole is there to let air flow so that the engine recieves air to idle without the cable opening the TB.
Corvette has an electronic TB so the throttle plate is slightly opened all the time to allow air flow.
Holes may be made bigger in the F-body or a new hole made in the corvette to allow more air to increase the idle slightly or keep the car from surging.
The only time this is done (usually) is when a cam is installed and it will not idle with factory tuning and the person does not want to pay for tunning.
If you don't have an aftermarket cam in the car and need to use the TB just put some silicone over the hole and use it.
