Default tires

looking for suggestions on best tire for occasional driving of my vette. no plans to race, just drive to work and back, nice long drive. looking for less road noise, long treadwear, and then handling in that order. vettes handle great as it is. what are some recommendations? looking to replace rear but may just do all at the same time. can get falkens for $600 all around but do not know much about them.

My driving requirements are the same as yours. I went with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Z/P 16,000 miles ago I am totally satisfied with them in ALL respects. When I get my C6, I will drive directly to Discount Tire and change out the G.Y. Runcraps. The ride is great, noise is non existant, handles fabulously and I can hear the stereo. The only detractor in the senario is that now I can hear my wife bitch about the speeding. They put Michelin's on the XLR Cadillac. Does that tell you something ? :seeya :chevy

I take it you aren't worried about runflats
Take a look at the Kumhos MX at www.tirerack.com .
Very quiet and grip like crazy. I paid $620.00 delivered.

i always did like michelins over goodyear, goodyear was okay new but lost its luster when old and never really got good tire wear under normal wear and tire. not worried about run flats.

Checkout the new Goodyear F1 Gs-D3 nonrunflats. I purchased them from Sears for around $1220 including mountiing, balancing and alighment. Great tire! Excellent in the rain-took them to Hilton Head and they were a blast. Much quieter and performed well- quite a statement from a guy who would only buy Michelins in the past. Quite a bit cheaper, too. :flag

Switched to Toyo T1S Proxes 18's frt & rr. Good wear & grip. Ride & noise also good. Got a good price from Belle Tire.
