I had my GMPP ls6 heads flowed at a local engine builder. The heads had some additional work done in the bowl by the previous owner and the exhaust ports have been hand sanded. I opted not to have the intake runners sanded, and valves are stock. The cam I will be using has .573/.580 lift Her are the numbers. Comments please.
Superflow SF-600. Tested @ 28" H20. No manifold.
If they aren't mounted yet I would sent them out for a bigger valve (2.02/1.57). It will not require new seats and you will get a fresh multi-angle valve job. Use undercut valves for more flow. You will be able to sell the LS6 stockers. With a big cam and these heads you will benefit a lot from gearing.
How much are we talking for the larger valves and installation? The heads we're bought second hand but have never been installed. I was trying to keep this somewhat low budget. I probably woud have chosen a set of stage II heads if I was going to spend the extra cash and with that additional mod I would probably be up to or over that price. (With a set of heads that have already been milled .055") . I'm not sure it would be worth it at this point. Thanks for the reply!
I have the GMPP LS6 heads with 2.02/1.57 valves. These heads are milled 0.055 " at the time of CNC by LPE. Combustion chambers are 58.5 cc.Intake runners are large at around 240 cc. Here's a link to my before and after flow numbers . Before is as received from Scoggin Dickey. After is with new 2.02 and 1.57 REV valves and additional hand-sanding by LPE. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-...ngenfelter.GIF. They flow well. With test pipe I believe. :yesnod:
I was hoping to see slightly better flow numbers @ .500 and up but they will be OK for what I'm doing. I compared the numbers to those posted from SDPC and MTI, in J-Rod's spreadsheet, and mine for the most part are as good or slightly better. Thanks to everyone that repied
