I figure I probably have the right size wrench or socket, I just wondered if there was something special about the O2 socket...maybe to protect it? I have no idea obviously

Its just a deep socket, with a slot for the wire to fit in so you can get it on there. There's nothing really special about it other than the slot for the wire.
