I've been checking out some of the local Corvette shops regarding doing installation of GMPP LS6 heads and LPE GT2-3 cam, headers, and some other items. I figured I would be OK with 28# injectors, but one shop mentioned upgrading to 36# injectors. I'm thinking this is overkill, and will make tuning more difficult due to the shorter pulse width needed with larger injectors. Granted , I may be at the limit of adjustability for the 28#ers, but 36 #????
The other thing I'm not comfortable with is that they use Superchips programming (Custom Programs) I've never even heard anyone mention it on this forum, much less use it. I 'm hoping to find a place close to home to do the work but there aren't alot of options. Feedback please.
Re: Proper size injectors for H/C upgrade? (Greg_E)
You'll be fine with 28# injectors with that setup. Funny thing is when you add the cam and heads you'll most likely end up running real rich at first. I was trying to be safe and used SVO 30#ers (36-38 in effect) and it ran SOOOO rich it was unreal. We had to tune a ton of fuel back on it. Most of the guys in my area now run stock injectors or the 28#ers depending on what their cars came with.
Also for a head cam setup I would recomend a full on LS1 Edit tune. I highly doubt Superchips is gonna cut it, especially for divability concerns.

Don't waste your time with the superchips crap, find someone to do an LS1 edit and dynotune at the same time and you will know for sure that everything is just right when your done tuning.

Re: Proper size injectors for H/C upgrade? (XKR100)
Thanks guys. I really wasn't comfortable with the Superchips tuning. They were doing Prochargers on two cars while I was at the shop, so they seem to be busy enough, but the 36 # injector comment and Tuning method turned me off to the place. If KH24 can run 30# injectors in that rocket I surely can't need anything bigger for what I'm doing.
Re: Proper size injectors for H/C upgrade? (Greg_E)
I talked to several of our forum tuners before doing my heads/cam and every one of them advised against upgrading my injectors. According to them, my stock injectors are fine up to ~450rwhp.
Re: Proper size injectors for H/C upgrade? (Patches)
I'm running the stock injectors with my combo too... works great. For most any stock cubic inch normally aspirated application, the stock injectors should be fine.
