I'm soon going to replace my exhaust system from the manifold back. I was wondering if there are any performance oriented or "free flow" catalytic converters available for C5's. If so which manufacturers and where are they available? Also if so, which are most recomended?
Supposed to get my car back from the latest mods this Friday. Doing stage 3 heads, 3:73s, ported throttle body, and random tech metal matrix/xpipe setup to finish off the BPP long tubes and borla exhaust.
I don't need any O2 simms with my FLP setup but I know a couple guys running the Stainless Works headers and hi-flows that need them to avoid throwing codes. I've heard that Edit tuning can correct this but didn't need it for mine so never tried it.
In my opinion, if you JUST do highflow cats, your HP gains would be VERY minimal, if anything.
If you can afford it, this is the best time to go with a complete long tube header, xpipe, high flow cat combo such as the Stainless Works setup. It is good for an honest 20rwhp without any PCM tuning. Add tuning and you can probably extract even a bit more. 304 stainless steel Long Tube Headers with 1 3/4" primaries and 3" collector that flow through 3" Random Technology High Flow Cats and into a 3" 304 stainless Xpipe and then back to meet up with your over-the-axle pipes from your muffler system.
Feel free to email me if you have are interested in any information or pricing on what I mentioned above.
