C5 Serpintine Belt

I'll be replacing the 'fan' belt this weekend. I don't imagine that it'll be too hard, but thought I'd ask if there are any 'gotchas' involved.

I changed mine a month ago when I bought the car... No complications

I just had a squeek that drove me crazy. I replaced the belt w/ a gm dayco belt, brand new tensioner, and a brand new pulley. It still squeeked. I went to auto zone and ordered a Goodyear Gatorback belt. Guess what, squeek is gone. The belt looks much better than the factory gm dayco belt.

I hear the Gatorback belt runs cooler also

The best belt to reduce noise is the Goodyear Gatorback. There is no replacement number for 1999 thru 2004. However there is a replacement for 1997 & 98 Corvetts. This belt is 80.2 inches long vs the 80.0 inches long that are standard for '99-'04 Corvetts. Believe me, there is more than .2" thake up in the tensioner pulley. If you want quiet, the Gatorback is the only way to go. :steering:
