I am looking for feed back on the SPL LT Header Free Flow Cats & 3" Xpipe. It seems like such a great deal, but I never read of anyone using them????
The Header appears to be one of the easiest to install! I know everyone is using LGM, FLP, and Kooks systems. I was just wondering. Any feed back will be of great help.
I'm interested too. Seems like a great price. The only things I have heard is that they're a MFer to install and there can be a problem with melting wiring harness.
OK Guys... THE TRUTH from some one that has experience with these headers, running and installing them, who is not a vendor or works for SLP
1. Does this system(headers and high flow cats) make power...You Bet :smash:
2. Are they made of the best stainless...No
3. Are they thermal coated and waranteed for life...Yes
4. Does the thermal coated magnetic stainless(409) have any benefit over the non-magnetic (304) stainless and why...Yes, it contains the thermal energy in the exhaust, thereby increasing the exhaust velocity and power. It also cuts down underhood heat.
5. Are they a PIA to install...Yes, but it something you only do once.
6. How would you know if they really made power....check sig, haven't seen many other stock internal C5s put down these numbers...No brag, just facts.
7. How would they compare to other headers.... The only ones that I can compare them to would be TPIS as that is what was previously installed on my car. After a year and 1/2 the SLPs look and perform as new, with no issues, whereas the TPIS air tubes broke off and the coating was looking...well not good. After many trips down the 1/4 mile I can honestly say the performance of the SLPs averaged at least 1 1/2 tenths and about 2+ more mph.
Hope this honest feedback helps whoever is concerned.
I would think the install would be easier with the seperate down pipe piece. What is the hard part of the install?
Did you use their 3" H-Pipe or 3" x-pipe?

Thanks for the reply!
The difficuly was on the passenger side, with the relocation of the starter and adjacent wires, because of the close proximity of the starter itself. It is very tight in this area. The same goes with slipping the headers into place. Once this is done the rest is straight forward.
