Any body install a high lift cam then did not like the other noises that came along with it (besides the lobe sound that we all love). If so, here is your chance to describe the noise & tell what you did about it. Humor me.... :lurk:
I installed a higher lift cam and noticed the increased valvetrain noise. It gets annoying if I pay attention to it. I usually don't notice it tho. Kaley
Aftermarket, higher lift cams always bring a bit more valvetrain noise with them. It can be made more quiet with the addition of a nice set of aftermarket roller rockers, but it will not ever go away 100%. Honestly, you will only notice it at first because it is different from what your car was, but after awhile, you won't notice it.
Duration has something to do with the valvetrain noise as well. I would say anything with over 220 degrees duration and .550" lift will start to give your engine a bit more of a sewing machine sound... But again, its not very serious and your mind quickly filters it out.
Thx for the input guy's, Turns out I had some exhaust pinhole leaks at the flang btw the headers & exhaust. A combination of all mentioned in this thread & the leaks was the source of my discontent. I guess if you want the big horsey(s) you gotta deal with some noise. Thx Calvin @ Kelly Performance for riding with me & ironing things out.

:iagree: Stop by the house and I'll give you a first hand look...It's music to my ears.. :yesnod:
Here is an update guys... It turns out there is actually something out of the ordinary happening with my rig. Today at WOT (I willn't say where) it became severly under powered seeming straining to maintain engine speed. This continued for about 5 minutes even at normal throttle. That may be an issue regarding the #7 sp wire or even an O2 sensor (got codes) -- the thing I do not get is WHY THE TICKING gets way louder during... Anyway, I'm going to Kelly on Wednesday and let Angel & Brian put it under the microscope. What worries me is the dawn ticking. I'll keep you'll posted & thx for all the coments.
Vstella -- I might have to start looking into that stroker afterall.
I have just that, 640 lift in a solid roller. The ticking is very noticeable in the morning but goes away some after the engine has warmed up and all the aluminum has expanded like it should, along with the idle smoothing out. I like it alot, but only after it has warmed up. :seeya
