Default Brake Pad Life for Basic City Drivers?

Hey daily city drivers (no track, limited highway), what kind of brake pad life are you getting? :auto:

Based on my pad life on the 01 - you should expect to see about 45-50K miles on the front pads and more on the rears. I drove the car agressively and AutoX frequently and my first set of pads was just about used up at 40K miles.

72K and they were not to the squeekers yet (close though). This is suburban commute miles but ALOT of back roads too, not Auto-X or track. These are the longest life pads I have had on any car!

My 99' is getting ready to turn 60k and I'm still on the OEM pads. Not a regular daily driver but she gets her share of miles per year.

I've got 35K on mine and i'm still on the OEM pads. I purchased the Ceramics about 6 months ago to install but the OEM's are still in descent condition. If they make it to see 40K then I will go ahead nd replace them.

Just for comparison, you can use them up in less than 200 miles on the track! :D :D

Just changed mine last night. 72k miles, 5 trips to the drag strip, 3 autoX's, and lots of enthusiastic driving/racing elsewhere. No track events. The pads were just about dead.

I'm still running on the same set since I bought the car 2 years and 30000 miles ago. Dont know how long the owner before me used them. :D

haha

I found this topic searching for pads.. and I found this interesting.

I have an 02 Z06... with just about 15k on the clock. Its already squeeking. I have not verified the pads yet, but I was searching to see if they are the same part number as the C5 (cause I have an extra set in the garage from my 99). Maybe Im just trippin, and my brakes are fine.

Thanks all.

I just replaced both front and rears on my '99 at 48K and there seemed to be quite a bit of life left in the stock pads, but I replaced 'em anyway.

I got 41,000 on fronts. Now at 70,000 and think backs may need changing. I bough GM's ceramic pads, will put on all four wheels. I hate the brake dust !

I am hard on brakes, I brake late and hard!

Usually cars shoud get at least twice the mileage on backs as fronts. Large percentage of braking is done with fronts.

When I drive cars on the street I tend to get 45K-80K miles on a set of pads.

When I drive on the track, I get 5 days or 5 tanks of gas (whichever comes sooner) ~= 600 miles.
