My 99 Nassau Blue has had the typical fuel gauge / sensor problem. The gauge would become erratic at 1/2 tank then would go to empty with warning light. Reset and it would remain there until the key was turned off. Within the last 2000 miles the sensor/pump for both tanks were replaced under warranty. The dealer is telling me that the General has issued a service bulletin for reprogramming the computer to solve this problem without changing the pumps. (mine are new). This seems logical but just wondering if anyone else has had this issue. 75/6 still in effect and paying the $$ for this repair. Thanks.. vettdvr :steering:
I have the same problem with my 98 with 38,000 miles, but i have been out of warr. since nov. 2000. I have learned to deal with it, among other annoying little problems. :( But don't get me wrong i wouldn't trade it, just now starting mods and it's paid for---- ALL MINE:)
Erratic Fuel Gauge Reading (Reprogram the PCM) #02-06-04-010A - (06/27/2003)
Erratic Fuel Gauge Reading (Reprogram the PCM)
1999-2002 Chevrolet Corvette
This bulletin is being revised to add models and update the Correction and Warranty Information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 02-06-04-010 (Section 06- Engine).
Condition
Some owners may comment about the fuel gauge intermittently indicating an empty reading and then return to the correct fuel level indication.
Cause
This condition may result when fuel blends containing aggressive sulphur compounds react with the fuel sender assembly, which may result in voltage spikes being induced on the fuel level signal to the PCM. Use of another fuel blend may reverse this reaction and return the system to normal operation.
Correction
Reprogram the PCM with the new service calibration which is available in the June 2003, Techline® TIS release sent to the dealers on 6/28/03. Use the TIS Version 7 or later data update.
Had the same problems with my 2000. After all sensors were replaced (3 trips back to dealer) They realized the PCM had not been updated. Once they did this, the guage goes from full to reserve to low fuel without any problems. Hope this was the fix and not just dumb luck. Im on my 4th tank of gas, so far so good. :hurray: [IMG][/IMG]

Question, will this PCM reprogram completely read over my currently edited (LS1 Edit) PCM program? Please excuse me if this is a dumb question, but my rationale was that maybe the GM reprogram only edited the portion of the code that pertained to this fix.
Thanks for posting this problem. I was just going to post this symptom myself. I just experienced the same with my 2000 coupe, 12k miles on the car. I got a "check guage" light along with the "low fuel" on the display. After filling the tank with 13 gallons, the light and gauge did not go away until after I turned the engine off and restarted. Then the guage read an erratic 1/2 full and stayed there until I drove it a few miles. Now, it looks like it pegged/stuck at full [it has never been over that far when the tank is full].
The car typically sits for a week before being driven, and I never change brand of gas...use Shell.
