Got them in and have put the tach/speed unit back in. Everything works but the purple/blue lighting that was advertised when lights are on only partially shows on the small gauges and nothing on the speed/tach gauges. Did I screw-up install or is the night lighting just not as advertised? I do not want to go any furthur with re-installation if I have to go back and change something. Please help!
It's normal....you may have noticed that the lights for that unit are mounted on the far left and right which is why the smaller gauges are lit well because they are closer. Lighting just doesn't reach the larger gauges enough to light up the bezels fully. There may be an upgrade to increase the output of the lights but I've never seen it.
one simply can not get a good picture of the rings at night without using a long exposure shot. I don't think any vendor is intentionally misleading anyone. The aluminum rings are all (practially) the exact same. So you would see the same as the rest of us that are extremely satisfied.
I myself do see a good glow on all rings; but it needs to be completely dark outside with my eyes allowed time to adjust.
In-other-words... you cannot just simply turn the garage lights out (just after instalation) and expect to see a strong glow. You wouldn''t want to anyways... because it would become distracting while driving.
I personally wouldn't want my rings to glow any brighter for that reason.
I purchased mine for daytime appeal. The nightly glow is just an added bonus IMO.
Whoever mentioned making sure you have the dash lights turned all the way up is on to something. Many times during the re-assembly process, the control gets accidentally turned (unknown to the installer). Double check this.
