Default CAGS disconnected now Check Engine Light is on.

I disconnected my CAGS and now the check engine light is on. Any suggestions on how to get this corrected?

Did you just disconnect it, or did you also put in a resistor or CAGS eliminator device?

If not resistor, goto Radio Shack and pick up a 2.2Kohm 1/2 watt resistor and put it in where you unplugged the CAGS wire.

Boy that's wierd ! I wouldn't think that would cause the check engine light to come on - it has nothing to do with engine functions just the tranny !!

"Check Engine" is what will appear when the cags is disconnected. As mentioned above, you need a bypass or the resister installed to simulate the solenoid so it appears all is functioning correctly. Don't forget to seal the socket in the transmission where the plug was pulled. :flag

:withstupid:

I did what Thunder7 describes and no issues, no light. Wrapped a baggie around the connections and taped it up tight.

And you get 5 extra resistors (they come 6 for $.99).

Just get one of the CAGS eliminators and the light will go out.

Thanks for the help. Just so I am clear on the resistor, do I plug it into the connector attached to the wire or into the tranny where the CAGS wire was connected? Thanks again.

I don't think so - the wiring harness side is what is connected to the computer.

The computer has to see the 2.2K resistor load which it assumes is the solenoid. That is all to say the resistor goes into the wiring harness end and not the transmission.

 I just went through this when I had my Random Technology X-Pipe & High Flow cats installed. I had two 02 sims installed, problem gone.
