I was thinking about a 4130 cromoly 6-point bar from Wolfe Race Craft with removable door bars and rear bars for street ease of use. http://www.wolferacecraft.com
I'm looking for NHRA legal without adding maximum weight to the car. Something that is as hiden as possible so it's street friendly and getting in and out easy. Local PD doesn't like caged cars that much...
Need help deciding, any recommendations ? Pictures?
Re: What do you guys run for a rollcage? (H82BFST)
A chassis builder local to me built me a custom 5pt moly bar with swingout/removeable doorbar.installed and painted for less than the bolt in mild steel wolfe bar alone costed.you may want to look for someone with racecar experience local.....and mine looks just as good as the wolfe.

H82BFAST-
We perform rollcage installations here using the product you are linking to and here is a link to photos of a recent customer's installation we did here in a 2002 Z06.

Go custom. The Wolfe cage isn't the best made.
:iagree:
In addition, you might want to reconsider the idea of a swing-out side-bar. The problem is that the extension from the main roll-bar coming down the left side is sometimes so long that some driver's left shoulders keep hitting it. I experienced this when sitting in a buddy's car who had the swing-out bar.
As a result, I decided to go to REBS Specialties to get a custom 5-point cage. It was more money but I also got EXACTLY what I wanted and it has passed every NHRA tech inspection.
Instead of a swing-out bar, I have a removeable side-bar. Just takes under a minute to install and remove. The whole thing - welded to the frame - weights less than 35 lbs. of chromoly. Hope this helps.
LGM did my 5pt and it has the removable door bar. They did a 1st class job on my car . I get lots of comments on how well it looks and some say it looks like it was built at the Factory. :hurray: :hurray:

Re: What do you guys run for a rollcage? (Red C5)
Peter,
I don't know what current pricing is but try REBS Specialties at http://www.rebsspecialties.com and talk to Eric. The cage will be around fifteen hundred bucks or so. Then you will need to consider what you want to do about a five-point restraint system if you are running sub-12's. They can help you with all of this.
Also, once on their website, go to their customer's cars section and click on my Black C5. There are pics there of the cage being fabricated.
REBS builds alcohol dragsters, Bonneville cars, and also does custom work for car shows so they really pay attention to the finer details in terms of aesthetics and safety. In this case, you really do get what you've paid for. Those who have gone there to have them fabricate a roll-cage for their C5's have been more than happy with the result.
Does the targa top still fit in the trunk? Mine is a Kirkey cage and the top no longer can be stowed.
Does the stub from the removable sidebar present a safety problem (shoulder contact) when the door bar is removed? (I can't tell from the pic's perspective) thx. sj
Re: What do you guys run for a rollcage? (H82BFST)
My doorbar works as a swing out.but I can remove it when I am not racing.as far as removeable rear downbars go,they will not pass tech inspection.the rear downbars must be welded to the main hoop to be legal.you will notice that wolfe says that their bolt-in 5 and 6pt bars can be made legal with 2 welds? well, the downbars to the main hoop ARE the 2 welds required.

Nice install.
Thanks!

Yes it still fits, I made sure of this before having the bar installed. If they were to tell me the roof wouldn't fit back there anymore, I probably would have went somewhere else, or scrapped the idea entirely of having a bar put in.

Nope, as you can see in the first pic, I can just slide a piece of foam over it. Actually, mine sticks out less than what I've seen in cars with a Wolf bar installed. But I leave both of my side bars in all the time on the street, I just don't put the pins in, it would kinda hurt hitting your head on that. Only when I hit the track the passenger side bar comes out.
