Picked up my first vette new three weeks ago and it is everything I had hoped it would be and more except one thing. TIRE NOISE. I cant beleive that after paying all that money for the vette I have always wanted,I have to go out and spend 1500.00 bucks for tires that dont sound like I am running over road side warning bumps. Sorry just venting. My question is what are the best tires with the least amount of noise. Thanks for the help with this newbee problem.
The GY runflats are very noisey :mad I purchased the Michelin Pilot Sport Run Flats from Tire Rack for $1,245.00 shipped and had them installed for $145.00. It was pricey, but, worth every penny based on the handling and reduction in noise... :yesnod:
Others recommend Firestone Firehawks, Yokohoma's and the new GY non runflat as viable alternatives...good luck!
Congrats on the vette and welcome to the Forum...

I too have always had that complaint but I just got an 04 vert. 2 months ago and very little road noise....I have no idea what they changed but it is exceptionally smooth riding and quiet...It is a DOG compared to my 02 vert so many may want to try one a while if they are considering trading, even the handling is different.
Best of luck with yours..Great Machine
Welcome to the freak show! You just bought the best 40-60k sports car that needs 15k worth of modification to make it run and feel like a new vette owner would expect! If you do not know it... now you do! Start by knowing this, you have a great car and if you want it to feel a certain way you may have to pay for upgrades. I have owned many different cars and a vette with an extra 15k will far out perform the likes of Porshe, Ferrari, and the bucket of bolts Dodge calls a "Viper". Lots of people on this forum dedicated to helping you enjoy!
You think maybe if I whine enough to the dealer that he would change to the newer upgrade. Mine is a leftover 03 built 08/02 so there is a good possiblity that it has the older run flats
