This may sound nuts but I had similar codes come up on the DIC recently and the reason was the wheel speed sensor connector on the front passenger side hub. It turns out that each of those modules depends on the wheel speed sensor data coming in from each hub. I removed each wheel and cleaned the connector halves with compressed air. Problem solved for my situation.
Re: Service ABS, Active Handling, TCS (JohnnyNarcosis)
Yep....I told you it would be "just my luck". Three days in a row it is happening...the 4th day I take it to the dealer it doesnt happen and everything checks out....today (day 5) it has been happening for the last few hours :banghead: WTF is going on? What's the next step? :banghead: :skep: :boxing :banghead:
Re: Service ABS, Active Handling, TCS (have code), Code TCS C1214 -
Well.....of course, without fail,...the messages and codes were going off all weekend. Brought it back into the dealer first thing this AM. I think the service rep is getting annoyed with me :boxing ....I just want the thing fixed. No reason why I should be driving around in the rain without any ABS, TCS, or AH. Sooooooo....I'll keep ya updated on what happens this time.
By the way....when I took it in...the "Service AH, TCS, ABS" messages were going off and the service rep saw them first hand.....he didn't seem too interested though. ARGhhh.....ok, I'll keep ya posted.
Re: Service ABS, Active Handling, TCS (have code), Code TCS C1214 - (RskyBns)
Well...the car was at the dealer since 8am this morning. And FINALLY I get a call at 4:30 in the evening....."Well, seems like that solenoid you were talking about is toast." I'm like....no $h!t moron!.....anyways....even though they ran a full day of diagnostics last week and then again today....he says the tech still needs to do some more diagnostics tomorrow morning before they file the GMPP claim. I talked to the parts dept. there as well....it will take them at least a day to get the part....told the service rep this and he said he can't do anything about getting the part until they finish tomorrows diagnostics.....seems totally dumb to me. That means that probably it will just have to sit there most of the day and same on the day after until they get the part in. They will have had the car for 4 days in order to do a 2 hour job. :banghead:
Re: Service ABS, Active Handling, TCS (bowtiebandit)
Bowtie...thanks for your insight in this matter.
The service rep just called and said that the part would be in tomorrow morning and I should be able to get the car by noon. That will be 4 days of service. Anyways....I asked him if it was the EBCM or the EBCM and the BPMV. He said it was just the BPMV/ABS Unit that needed to be replaced. Does that make sense? From what I read in the service manual I wouldn't think that would be the case. Thoughts?
When my EBCM went bad and started the throw the same code as yours, the abs worked each time I ran the car cold, but after it warmed up it quit working. Based upon that it was likely to be an electronic part. This was confirmed when we replaced only the EBCM and it has worked great ever since. Good luck, at least yours is under warranty. :hurray:
Re: Service ABS, Active Handling, TCS (Rippied Z06)
For what its worth..I have a 98 I bought new and got the same error codes, but only when I go over 75-80mph. Doesn't happen every time, maybe 60%. Of course when the car was under warranty the dealer could not find anything wrong. I guess I will put up with it unless it gets worse.
GM Parts direct sells it for under $500, but their shipping is based on price so it will cost about $150 for shipping. If you can get it from a dealer for a jobber price, it should be around $600. Retail is about $950.

If you had the problem documented on the repair order during warranty.......take it back now!
Ours just went in the shop for the 3rd DS rear axle seal, 2nd belt noise and 1st front PS wheel bearing assy. All documented under the warranty that ran out in March but "dealer could not find" wheel bearing issue.
This will be covered under a, "Pre-exisitng condition", the other 2..........never fixed correctly the 1st time
