I've actually had it running for a while but just got the little stuff buttoned up and had a chance to put a few miles on it today.
It just has a whole different feel than the blown 346 inch motors I build. It's a Darton block, with a Callies crank and Diamond pistons. The 229 cam actually idles fairly smooth in the big motor with no idle tuning at all. ( I'm actually loading an idle program with my other computer as I'm writing this.
Torque is more than abundant. It pulls as soon as you touch the throttle. I haven't had a chance to open it up , but I'm sure it will be very impressive.
I was talking to a customer on my cell as I drove it home. He thought I was on the dyno!
I can't wait to get my own 409 inch motor running. Maybe next week.

Re: Blown 427- First driving impressions. (Andy@AandACorvette)
Andy, thanks for the heads up! I'm sure it's going to be exactly what I have dreamed of! Thanks for creating it, and especially thanks for taking the time to extensively test drive it and really check it out-others probably wouldn't have invested the kind of time you do to make sure that it's right!
I'll be in Friday about 11:00 AM to pick it up and to get my short couse in Super Car driving:steering: -(I'd better go buy a helmet)!
Have at it! What a fun job you have created for yourself-seeyou Fri.
