Came across this on another forum. Amsoil's 10w-30 specs have been updated and they are impressive. This oil has a higher HT/HS then their 0w-30 and a stronger TBN. The only thing it lacks is the coefficient of friction package that Series 2000 has, which will help reduce engine temperatures. For the money, this is a great oil.
The new Amsoil spec sheet has been posted on the "dealer only" portion of their website:
Amsoil 10w-30
vis @ 100C, 11.8 Cst
Vis @ 40C, 66 Cst
VI, 176
Noack Vol, 5.5%
HT/HS > 3.5 Cp
PP, -54F
FP, +446F
CCS vis @ -25C, 3097 Cp
TBN > 12.2 (ASTM D2896)
Four Ball wear, .40 mm (40kg/150C/1800 rpms for 1hr)
And for those of you who live in Canada, they've now started selling Amsoil at Canadian Tire! They carry the 5w30 (ASL) and 10w30 (ATM) synthetic, as well as the Series 2000 0w30 and the 4 cycle 0w40 oil (meant for motorcycles/snowmobiles) They also sell the ATF too. I've also found out some CT stores are selling Redline too! It's nice to see two of the best synthetics made are now becoming more mainstream.
I still think the German made Castrol Syntec 0w30 is a much better bargain though, it's a lot cheaper up here and offers very similar performance to Amsoil. So far the oil analysis results I've gotten with this oil in my car and in my sister's car have been very good. In fact, I've yet to see a bad oil analysis when anyone has used this oil.
I spoke with an Amsoil guy last week and he said that you have to hand it to Mobil because they do make a great product. He said their focus is in the extended drain market. If you look at their oils, they don't have the extreme pressure and anit-wear additives of an oil like Redline. I think Amsoil makes excellent oils but I don't think they are any better then Mobil 1 currently and Redline. Redline clearly makes the most advanced synthetic lubes on the market without a doubt.
