Default Another Valvespring :(

Well, I had another valvespring go on me. This time the car just started running like crap right away. There was no noise or warning sign, like the first time.
I got the car home and ripped it apart. Its the 3 spring on the drivers side ( Inake valve again)
I am having a whole new set shipped this time like was offered in my last thread.

Only thing, is I believe there to be some extensive damage this time. I had some metal shavings and some pices of rubber in there.
I am thinking about just pulling off the heads this time to check for damage.

This cam wap has been more trouble and costly then it is worth. 3500 miles, and 2 broken springs, and a friend who had his car done the exact same time is down right now for a broken spring as well. I got the Rev 7716's , and he has the 1116's. I guess there is a bad batch of both.

Lou offered the Isky's as an exchange, when I broke the last one. I sent an e-mail to LGM tonight. Hopefully they will call when their open again, to discuss this.

But Isky's are single spring so if it's broken, the valve will drop and may damage the valve train ...
I am scared now :cry

Is this a common problem on the G5X2's?

Not necessarily a common problem but not rare.

Its going to happen with any big cam, not just the G5X2.

I have NEVER heard of an ISKY fail so personally, I would just get those and never worry.

As long as there is no damage to the head, I am just going to swap over to the Isky's.

I believe one of the specs is over .600 for lift and that is a bit much for the 1116's. Lou is going with the 2x cranes now which is a good recommendation.

Sorry to hear that this has happened again :nonod:

I've had the G5X2 on my 'vette since late August and haven't had any problems. I've got Ferrera springs.

I did mine in early July, same as my friend. I broke 2 springs in 3500 miles and so far he has broken 1 in 2500.

I want something that is gonna last this time. I am tired of tearing this thing apart. I am trying to save up for a new clutch and all the hydraulics and this isn't helping.
I should have bought a POS daily beater instead of the cam etc. but I will be going overseas for the next 3 years and just wanted to enjoy the extra power and fun of the vette.
