Hey. As I was driving to work today I got the Low Oil level indication from the DIC? I'm at work and I do not have access to my manuals. Can anyone chime in and let me know what the deal is ? I checked the oil after the car had sat for about 10-15 mins and it shows about 30% up the dip stick in the operating mark.
It's been approx. 1500 miles since my last oil change. I used Mobil 1 5w30 and the corresponding filter.
I'm just curious if its safe to drive to walleyworld and buy some oil or if I need to have a friend pick me up and drive me?

If the dipstick is fine then it is probably fine. Last time you had your oil changed was the DIC reset? I just had my oil changed 2 weeks ago and they didnt reset it so this morning I got the same thing.

That's my feelings on it. I guess I'm just concerned that I might have hurt my baby on the way to work this morning. I'm sure you all won't believe this, but last night I had a nightmare about over revving my engine and bending valves. :cry
What's a safe way to keep a quart of oil in the rear? Knowing me, I'd have a quart of oil laying in the back compartment. So anyone know how much the oil level must drop before the Oil Level Indicator comes on?
I changed the oil myself last time. I did reset the computer. I'm at about 70% right now. Just worried where the oil has gone. I hate to think my 99 with 19500 miles is already burning oil :(

Mine's a 99 but it doesn't burn a drop. I did the PCV mod a while back and it's surprising to see the amount of oil that is captured that otherwise would be destined for the combustion chambers.

Hello,
From the General.....
LOW OIL LEVEL: Press RESET to acknowledge that
you have read the message and to remove it from the
display. The message will reappear every 10 minutes
until this condition changes.
You will hear two chimes when this message is
displayed. If this message appears after starting your
engine, your engine oil level may be too low. You may
need to add oil. See “Engine Overheating” in the Index.

Thanks !
I added roughly 3/8 of a quart. It bumped it back up to where it's supposed to be. I'm curious though, why is my car burning oil?!? I mean this thing has been babied. It had 17.8k on it when I bought the thing and now has 19.5k. I kinda like driving her
Anyhow just kinda bummed the car I spent every penny on burns oil which is :bs
