Anyone having trouble getting their starter on their C5 engaging? Occassionaly, my starter doesn't turn at all as if it's in a bind. I'll roll the car (with my foot) in 6th gear (manual transmission) a couple of inches forward or backward and then try the starter again. Usually this works like a charm. Concerns me that it won't work at some point and mr. tow truck will be headed my way. Has anyone heard of anything like this??
I’m inclined to believe that your starter maybe just fine….
In order for your car to crank two things need to happen at the same time.
Key placed in the start position AND clutch peddle fully depressed.
Manual Transmission
The gear selector should be in NEUTRAL and the parking
brake engaged. Hold the clutch pedal to the floor and start
the engine. Your vehicle won’t start if the clutch pedal is
not all the way down -- that’s a safety feature.
Make sure that the floor mat is not bunched up or interfering with the full travel of the clutch peddle
If the problems continue, remove the clutch peddle switch and perform continuity check to verify operation.
