Default Better Traction help

Just back from a GM/ Ford shoot out in SC I have a 01 6M coupe with just bolt ons headers, stingers, no cats, vortech, new maf,air bridge, TB bypass,MSD wires, thats about it on the performannce side. 100% stock I ran a 13.2 @107 with mods 13.06 @112 with a lot of traction problems.

I saw Vettes with the same mods running 12.1 or 11.9 with drag radials can you recomend tires also I saw them running 17 inch on the back for the drag tires would the shorter tire bring my 3:42 gear down or will a shorter tire raise the gear ratio? I can never remmber that

Please help  :cry :cry :cry :cry :nopity

Go with the 275/40/17" it will change the ratio alittle. The BFG's are best for track but the Nitto's work well also.

The 275/40/17 DR's will give the same perfofmance as a 3:55 gear.

Hey thanks for the tire information, I don't want to sound stupid just want to make sure befor I spend the money the 17s will turn my 3:42 to about a 3:55 ratio.

That could be good news at the track :)

As I stated above the smaller tire diameter will give you a 3:55 gear. Here is the math: 275/40/18 dia. = 26.7, 275/40/17 dia. = 25.7.

26.7/25.7 = 1.0389 1.0389 * 3.42 = 3.55
