Here two tricks. Collapse the shock with a string zip tie to get in in & out of its mounting position. If the front shock doesn't line up, lift the lower arm with a jack and it will aid positioning.
P.S. Make sure all your bilstein parts are correct before you disassemble! Also check your suspension mount bolts with a torque wrench while you are in there.
It's not a bad job at all. I didn't know about the zip tie trick so it took a little bit of doing to get the shocks compressed to get in and out. It took me about 2 hours to put the shocks on and swap out the front sway bar.
