Default c5 rear question

A gentleman on another forum had a question--i figured i would post it over here for him. Thanks for any help.

"To anyone familiar with the C5 Corvette Getrag differential, was wondering if the pinion gear splines go all the way through the pinion gear? By removing the rear cover plate on the differential can you see through the pinion gear and splines (with transmission removed) or just the back of a bearing assembly? Looking to see if a splined shaft could be installed from the back side (cover removed) to drive the gears."

Thanks
Geoff
