I have been trying very hard to do some research on my next big project to my 97 Z28. Since im getting no help whatsoever with the guys over at cz28.com I might as well try here. I will be attempting something that im not sure if anyone else has before. I would like to retrofit a 97+ vette instrument cluster into my 97 Camaro Z28. I have yet to buy a vette cluster because I am trying to figure out if it is technically possible. I figure it will take some work such as making a new wireharness and making sure all inputs go where they need to, but I dont see why the digital information coming from a 97 Camaro OBD2 computer would be different from the data from a 97+ vette computer. They gauges shouuld* do whatever is inputted to them. The next issue is fitting it in place and not look rigged. The basic cluster sizes are very similar along with gauge layout. SO I was wondering if there is anybody that has information regarding wiring setups in the vette clusters or just knows a lot about them. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, do all year C5's and Z06's perform the gauge needle "wakeup" at key on or start where all the gauges do a full sweep then back down? my buddies 03 Z06 does hits but im curious about other years as well.
P.S. anyone have a cluster for sale?
Thanks much,
James
Re: Question regarding 97+ vette instrument cluster (JTS97Z28)
Take a look at the following link and see if it helps. It is a link to directions for removing the cluster and will indicate where/what wires there may be that you will be interested in.
