Default Fuel Gauge Erratic

Took it to the dealership this morning, they checked the PCM and I already have the latest update for the fuel senders in the car, so they are ordering the sender units. Should be in around Tue-Wed next week.

Wish me luck. Hope I don't end up with the dealership blues.. :cry :cry

Well, that was interesting. My complaint was three fold:
1. Fuel gauge sticks on full for around a 100 miles then starts registering 3/4 tank and works fine to about 1/2 tank.
2. Below 1/2 tank, each time I stop the car and turn it off, I will get a different fuel reading when I start the car.
3. When I fill the car, it will only read 3/4 of a tank the first time I start the car, but after that it reads full and goes into #1 above mode.

Tech Manager said it checked out fine on the diagnostics, but would get hold of GM Tech Support to see if there is any additional information on that end.

Kind of sounds like I am getting the run around, but I will wait and see.

Think I will run some injector cleaner through the tanks and see if that helps. If that doesn't help over the weekend driving, think I will try some Mystery Oil I read about in one of the "Fuel Guage" threads.

As I find out more, I'll post again.

Lonnie :cry :cry :cry

Marvel's Mystery Oil. Fuel gauge was going nuts the last couple days and seemed to fix the prob with a full tank of gas and some mystery oil.....I had good luck with this stuff before when it happened about 30k miles ago.

I think you'll find if you search the fuel gauge problems here you'll see a few other fixes. I tried the recommendation of Chevron Supreme with 'Techtron' (that's their built-in additive) and have had no problems since switching exclusively to their fuel.

If the problem is addressed soon enough, it seems that Marvel Mysery Oil, perhaps preceeded by some Chevron/Techron fuel system cleaner may be an answer. Several people in my club have done this. :yesnod: :)
