Guys my C5 is cribbed unless its a sunny day on the weekend...or I know I am going to someplace relatively parking lot safe.....I do try and take it out once and a while to run it...but overall does this "garaging" contribute to a rough idle once and a while???? Is alot of short term storage bad for the car???? Right now I just turned over 13k on the clock....

my 98 has 16,000 mi. and i have no problems. it runs great. i'm the same way about sunny days and safe parking.
as far as the rough idle you try to think about the simple things first. do you use the same brand of gas all the time ? check the air filter & pcv valve.
i know a long time ago i bought a used 84. it was idling & running rough. i changed the air filter, pcv valve and if my memory serves me correct a breather element. it smoothed it right out.

Re: In the garage too much??? (skidmarc)
My C5 has a slight rough idle, but so did my '99. I was told that this is normal. You may have a bad tank of gas, dirty air filter, bad plugs, partially clogged fuel filter, etc.
Thanks for the response......I changed the plugs/wires/fuel filter...been through a few different tanks of gas....still a rough idle once a blue moon...the air filter is clean.....what next???? change the pcv???
I WAS LIKE YOU TOO. HOWEVER I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT!!!!!!!!!! :) I NOW DRIVE IT!!!! :auto: I ALSO PARK IT IN PARKONG LOTS!!![ I STILL LOOK FOR "SAFE SPOTS" HOWEVER I HAVE COME TO REALIZE THERE IS NO SUCH THING] THE ABSOLUTE BEST THING ABOUT A VETTE IS DRIVING IT!!!! :steering: TAKE IT OUT MORE!!!! TRY AUTOCROSS  TRY FRIDAY NIGHT AT THE STRIP :p: DO ANYTHING BUT LET IT SIT IN THE GARAGE!!!! ;)
You may want to check the coils while you are at it... sometimes the coils are slightly bad (where they wont throw codes) and can cause a rough running engine. I had that happen to me... only took 3 years to find that problem. :mad
I have a '99 Trans Am with 2,985 miles that obviously sits most of the time and I've not had any problems (other than a drained battery). I just bought a '99 C5 in August that will see a little more use but not much. So far, it's been fine too.
