Default Z06 and C5 differences, among other questions

Hi, I'm interested in learning more about C5 vettes, and I haven't had much luck with searching, so I figured I'd ask here.

What are the differences between a standard C5 and a Z06? I realize the LS6 and improved suspension, but I'd like to know more. For example, will an LS6 and LS1 put out similiar numbers with the same modifications? What does it take to bring a c5's suspension to z06 standards or better?

I would also like to know how much power the LS6 and Ls1 can handle on the stock bottom end. Same goes to the tranny and rear end.

Thanks!
Will

Will -

here is a list (not complete yet) of the various differences throughout the years:
http://www.jakelatham.com/C5/misc/differences.shtml

LS1's and LS6's will put out similar power when modified - head/cam/etc

Depending on suspension package, you swap out the bars, springs, and shocks to get to a Z06 suspension. Z51's have the same front spring, and late Z51's also have the same rear bar. I have Z06 springs and bars in my '97.

I don't think anybody has made enough power to pop a bottom end N/A yet. FI seems to start getting sketchy around 550whp or so. No actual experience here on my end, that's just from reading around on the forums.

The Z06 is much lighter than the C5 coupe or vert. Lighter wheels, windshield, no power passenger seat, etc.

:iagree: with Jake & the others. Welcome to the forum. :seeya

Both are very close although the ZO6 ( especially +02 ) is a good platform to start with since you already start at around 350 ( give or take ) rwhp.
