Default Magnaflow "aggressive tone" catback?

Howdy Gang. Nice place ya got here. :)

I've been lurking for a few days and just put a deposit down on a cherry black 00 FRC last night. Can't wait to pick it up later this week.

I've crawled through all the search results for magnaflow, but haven't come across this one.

Has anyone tried or seen the Magnaflow aggressive tone system? Seems to me it should be no louder than the Stingers. Looks like pricing on it is quite a bit lower than their regular system too.

If any vendors see this and want to shoot me a quote on it, I'd really appreciate that. (Magnaflow part # 15763, shipped to 30043). Their site lists it at $616, including x-pipe, so I'm really curious about it.

Thanks!
Dan

Let us know what you find out. Sounds interesting. The normal Magnaflow system w/ x-pipe usually goes for around $1,000.00.

Hey there, welcome to the forum, and congratulations on the cool FRC! Before buying any cat-back exhaust, nothing beats hearing a variety of them in person. It's worth it to visit Vette and car gatherings and dyno-days just to hear and see potential purchases and ideas in person. Have fun with your car, and don't forget to wave! :seeya

Thanks for the welcome! :)

I called today and got more information on the system. It uses a pair of their 4"x18" magnapack "mufflers" immediately after the x and the over axle pipes go straight back. One tip on each side. Sounds like a great weight savings and awfully efficient flow, to say the least. Whether or not the sound would be bearable is another matter. Gotta be a righteous bark, that's for sure. :yesnod:

And yes, I'd much rather go to a gathering to hear systems in person first, but this is "cheap" enough I'm tempted to give it a shot for grins. LAPD quoted $499, fwiw.

Cheers!

Default Re: Pics here!

I just received some pics from the Magnaflow folks via email of their prototype system. The system requires cutting the stock pipes right after the cats and welding this system on. The magnapacks go right after the cats and the x-pipe goes right behind them. Looks pretty snug in these pics.

The other pics are at http://home.speedfactory.net/danbegg...tte/magnaflow/

The system also comes with threaded hangers to adjust the tip heights with.

Interesting setup. I wonder how much weight this thing would save over the stock cans. Sure does look like it would be loud. :steering:

Blorton,

That system and all the pics are AWESOME!

Magnaflow does make some nice exhaust systems!

For the price, it is a steal!

I am sure it sounds MEAN!
